When people used to think of food trucks, they imagined rusty trucks serving greasy food on the side of the street. Boy, have times changed. Now, popular chefs, successful restaurateurs, and quirky foodies are all getting in on the act. It quickly became one of the most sought-out food eateries in major cities. Being located in a popular city myself, I was inspired to give it a try. It’s been five years since I started my food truck business, and since the second I started, it quickly became my livelihood.
Summer 2018 is among us and that means business is booming. I ended up with Clover® because, to be honest, I just needed something to process credit cards. What I didn’t know was that my credit processing machine was able to improve all aspects of my business. It’s been the tool that’s allowed me to know what going on at my business at all times, without physically being at my truck. Again, my business is my livelihood – I have a lot of pride in it. When I hand things off to people, it’s hard! However, I can’t do everything. Having access to my business through my phone, iPad, and home computer is a huge relief.
The Best App For Food Trucks
One of my favorite parts about getting in contact with Cobalt was that they introduced me to Food on a Truck. It’s an application that caters specifically to food trucks – who would’ve thought!
Food on a Truck includes location and schedule management all in one app. They automatically update my website and social media accounts letting customers know where I am and when to show up. Being able to pre-set this feature helps a bunch when I have no time in the day to stop and update all of my online accounts. Also, they make up personalized customer surveys specifically pulled from my reports and what my business could do better on. Who knew all this could come from a payment processing system?
There’s so much more I can do with my system. I can manage my schedule, track sales by hour, and see where my best locations are.
My business is on wheels. Now, my POS system is just as flexible. My best advice for not only all other mobile businesses, but small business in general, is to go online to Cobalt’s site, find your industry, search through all the available apps you can put on your system, and switch over as soon as possible.
